Zakat is not a charitable contribution but is considered as a tax 2.5% of net savings and gold are total maintained wealth for one lunar year, before zakat is due 2.5% to be paid to poor in Ramadan. The zakat literally means "purifies wealth". Zakat is considered a way to purify one's income and wealth, just as ablutions purify the body and salah purifies the soul, so zakat purifies possessions and makes them pleasing to Allah (SWT).
Every Muslim must pay 2.5% Zakat on his or her savings and gold. This works out at £25 for every £1,000 distributing to orphans and needy. All admin fee included - View snapshots: Zakat distribution photos
